INGREDIENTS
- 1/3 mung dal / split gram
- 1/2 quick oats
- Small potato chopped
- 1/3 cup onion chopped
- 1 green chilly chopped
- 2/3 cup mix of carrots and green peas
- 1 teaspoon ginger grated or paste
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric / haldi
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoon coriander leaf
- 2.5 cup water
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/4 teaspoon red chilly powder
- Pinch of asafoetida / hing
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds / jeera
- Small tomato chopped
- 1 tablespoon of ghee or oil
PREPARATION
- To make oats khichdi, in a pressure cooker, heat 1 tablespoon of ghee or oil and splutter cumin seeds, asafoetida and bay leaf.
- Add onion and fry until soft and golden brown. Add ginger, green chilly, potato, tomato, green peas, carrot. Saute for 2 minutes and add turmeric, red chilly, salt, mung dal and oats.
- Now, add 2.5 cup of water and close the cooker. Cook for 2-3 whistles.
- Oats khichdi is ready. Serve hot with ghee / papad/ pickle.
