Oats fried rice style is easy and healthy recipe. The important part of this recipe is cooking the oats with right amount of water. If you add more water it will become mushy and if you do not add enough water, it will be dry.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup thick oats/rolled oats/old fashioned oats
- 1 cup cabbage sliced (or mix of cabbage, carrot and capsicum)
- 1/2 cup onion sliced
- 3-4 garlic clove chopped
- Salt and black pepper as required
- 1/2 teaspoon soya sauce
- 2-3 tablespoon oil
- Water as required
- Coriander leaf for garnish
- Lemon juice (optional)
PREPARATION
- The important part of this recipe is cooking the oats with right amount of water. If you add more water it will become mushy and if you do not add enough water, it will be dry.
- Dry roast oats until crisp and nice aroma comes. Once the oats is crispy, add 3 table spoon of water on medium flame, mix well, and close with a cover. Cook for a minute.
- Now repeat the second step with 2 table spoon of water.
- Keep repeating until the oats is soft, fully cooked and fluffy. Keep the cooked oats aside and let it cool.
- In a fry pan heat 2 table spoon of oil, add garlic and fry until the raw smell is gone.
- Now add cabbage and onion and cook for 2 minutes. Do not over cook, it should be crunchy.
- Now add salt, pepper and soya sauce. Mix well and add cooked oats.
- Off the flame and toss everything together. Cover and keep it for 2 minutes in the same pan.
- After 2 minutes, garnish and serve oats fried rice style hot.
NOTES
- Do not use quick cooking oats.
- You can add any veggies.
- Keep checking while adding water, oats and easily be over cooked and become mushy.
