That excitement of finally packing a hospital bag!!!! I was so happy to start packing my bag as soon as the third trimester started 😛 As I was in a wrong impression that once the third trimester strikes my water can break anytime and baby will be here soon (but nothing that sort happened, in fact, I was overdue a week :-/ ).

Before I list all the things some disclaimers-

  • I am not an expert. This list is what I took to the hospital and it worked for me. It can be more for some people and less for others.
  • I had a normal delivery and I stayed in the hospital for a night. So this list may not contain items for post-c-section care and longer hospital stays.

FOR MOTHER

  • Lose gown/pajamas/yoga pants -2
  • Lose tops/ feeding tops/tank tops- 2
  • Feeding bra- 2
  • Home coming outfit- 1
  • Comfortable cotton black panties – 6
  • Flip flop
  • Toiletries (soap, shampoo, face wash, lip balm, toothbrush, tooth paste, comb, hair tie, moisturizer and kajal :-P)
  • Sanitary Pads – XXL
  • Socks and sweater
  • Water bottle
  • Insurance card/Health card/ID card
  • Phone and charger
  • Snacks and drinks like coconut water.

FOR NEWBORN

  • 2-4 onesies
  • 2 bodysuit (preferably with the zip not with the buttons)
  • 2 hat/beanie
  • 2 pair mittens
  • 2-4 swaddles
  • 1 soft baby blanket
  • 1 carseat
  • 1 small pack of diapers (I used pampers NB size)
  • 1 pack sensitive wipes
  • 2 pair socks

EXTRA

  • 1 Pillow
  • Hot water bag ( Helped a lot during labor pain)
  • Tissues
  • Birth Ball
  • Camera/ipad/ipod/Book
  • Breast pads
  • Small feeding bottle (if the baby don’t latch)
  • Nipple cream (if feeding is painful in the beginning)
  • Small bottle of baby wash

I packed all these in a travel bag.
