INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 cup rice flour
- 1/2 cup water
- Salt to taste
- 3-4 tablespoon grated coconut
- 1 spring of curry leaf
- 1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 dried red chilly
- 2 teaspoon oil
- 1/2 teaspoon urad dal
PREPARATION
- In a bowl, take rice flour, salt to taste and add boiled water slowing while mixing with a spoon to make a smooth dough.
- You can also add few drops of ghee to make the dough soft.
- Make 15-20 small balls with the dough and place them in the idli plates.
- Steam the balls in the idli cooker for around 10-15 minutes.
- Switch off and let it cool.
- Heat oil in a pan, pop mustard seeds, urad dal, dry red chilly (optional) and curry leaves.
- Add the grated coconut and cook until nice aroma comes.
- Now add the steamed rice balls.
- Mix well and coat the balls with the masala. Adjust Salt.
- Serve ammini kozhukattai as breakfast or snack.
NOTES
- Avoid chilly if making for kids.
- I added a little red chilly powder.
