Oats Khichdi- Easy And Healthy

Ingredients
  

  • 1/3 mung dal / split gram
  • 1/2 quick oats
  • Small potato chopped
  • 1/3 cup onion chopped
  • 1 green chilly chopped
  • 2/3 cup mix of carrots and green peas
  • 1 teaspoon ginger grated or paste
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric / haldi
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoon coriander leaf
  • 2.5 cup water
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chilly powder
  • Pinch of asafoetida / hing
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds / jeera
  • Small tomato chopped
  • 1 tablespoon of ghee or oil

Instructions
 

  • To make oats khichdi, in a pressure cooker, heat 1 tablespoon of ghee or oil and splutter cumin seeds, asafoetida and bay leaf.
  • Add onion and fry until soft and golden brown. Add ginger, green chilly, potato, tomato, green peas, carrot. Saute for 2 minutes and add turmeric, red chilly, salt, mung dal and oats.
  • Now, add 2.5 cup of water and close the cooker. Cook for 2-3 whistles.
  • Oats khichdi is ready. Serve hot with ghee / papad/ pickle.
