Easy Broken Wheat / Dalia Kozhukatta

Try this easy and healthy recipe for broken wheat kozhukatta / dalia kozhukatta / broken wheat dumpling / wheat rava kozhukatta :-)

- 1 cup broken wheat / dalia / godhuma rava
- 2 tablespoon grated coconut
- 1 green chilly chopped
- 2 tablespoon small onion optional
- One spring of curry leaf
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste or grated
- Pinch of asafoetida
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard
- 1 teaspoon urad dal / husked black gram
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon tuvar dal / split pigeon peas coarsely
- 2 tablespoon of oil
To make broken wheat kozhukatta, heat oil in a pan, sputter mustard seeds, asafoetida, urad dal. Fry until urad dal is golden brown, then add ginger paste, curry leaves, green chilly. Saute for a minute.
After a minute add dalia / broken wheat, coconut and coarsely broken tuvar dal, mix for 2 minutes.
Add 2.5 cup of water and salt. Cook on medium flame covered. Until all the water is absorbed and the dalia or broken wheat is cooked.
Let it cool. Make small lemon sized balls and place them on greased idli plates. Steam for 10-15 minutes on medium flame.
Broken wheat kozhukatta is ready. Serve hot with chutney.
