We, me and my sister, can eat potatoes all day every day 😛 I avoid eating, but some evenings I cannot control 😛 you know, evening time when you really want something crunchy and salty snack. My go to snack is potato fry (chips, fries anything). I don’t know where I had this crispy honey garlic potatoes, but I always wanted to try it once at home. OK! heads-up, this recipe involves DOUBLE DEEP FRYING. Yes, if you are looking for healthy snack this is not for you. But if you want restaurant style crispy honey garlic potatoes, try this recipe you will love it. And you will want to make it again and again!!! I promise, it’s worth it.
INGREDIENTS
- 4 potatoes sliced
- 1 capsicum sliced
- 4 tablespoon all purpose flour (maida)
- 4 tablespoon corn flour
- 4 tablespoon sesame seeds (till)
- 2 tablespoon cilantro/ dhaniya chopped
- 2 tablespoon tomato ketchup
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 2 teaspoon garlic paste or powder
- 2 teaspoon black pepper powder
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon chilly sauce
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 1 teaspoon red chilly flakes
- 1/4 cup water
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
PREPARATION
- To make honey garlic potatoes firstly, wash, peel and cut potatoes into thin fries like pieces. Keep them in a bowl of salt water to prevent oxidization.
- Pat dry potatoes with a paper towel. Now in a bowl, coat potatoes with 2 tablespoon of all purpose flour (maida), 2 tablespoon corn flour, garlic paste, 1 teaspoon black pepper powder and salt.
- Heat oil in a pan for deep frying. When the oil is smoking hot, fry the coated potatoes, until half cooked. Let them cool.
- For the wet coating, add the remaining all purpose flour, corn flour, black pepper and 2-3 tablespoon of water.
- Now fry the potatoes until golden brown and crispy. (You can stop here if you are lazy to make sauce, because these double fried potatoes are delicious 😛 )
TO MAKE SAUCE :
- In a pan, heat 2 tablespoon of oil, add sliced capsicum, sesame seeds, chilly flakes, chilly sauce, soy sauce, tomato sauce, vinegar, honey and 1/4 cup of water.
- Once the sauce is thick, add fried potatoes and mix well until the sauce is coated well on potatoes. Serve hot.
