15 Minute Meen Vevichathu / Kerala Red Fish Curry

Sini's collection meen vevichathu/ kerala style red fish curry.

INGREDIENTS

  • 500gm fish cleaned and washed
  • 1 big onion chopped
  • 12 garlic sliced
  • 2 tbs ginger paste or sliced
  • 4 tbs red chilly powder dissolved in little water
  • 3 cocum/ kudampuli soaked in water
  • 1 spring curry leaves
  • 1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 3 tbs oil

PREPARATION

  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds. When they start spluttering add onion and ginger. Saute for few minutes.
  • Add the red chilly powder water and saute till oil seprates.
  • Now, add some water, curry leaves, garlic, fish, cocum and salt. Bring to boil. Then reduce heat and cook until fish is cooked and gravy is thick.
  • Serve hot with rice.

NOTES

  • You can add 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder and 1 tsp of coriander powder.
